The current Byward Market Building is visible from the perspective of George Street on our Market Tee. The gable-roofed brick structure, designed in classic revival style by architects Richards and Abra in 1928 is now home to many merchants from a diverse array of cultural backgrounds. We also chose to include merchant tents in front of the exterior of the building, in addition to a cloudy sky.
The print itself is white foil on colour cardstock. Foil printing is a unique style that allows for high contrast, crisp lines, however also shows a subtle amount of texture adding character to the piece. It's also designed and in printed right here in Ottawa.
We donate $5 from the sale of each one of our Market Prints to the Ottawa Carleton Immigrant Services Organization.
